Arabic Bismillah Prayer in Squared Kufic Calligraphy Script on Old Grunge Green Paper, "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم", Translation: "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the most Merciful.", The Kufic script is one of the earliest extant Islamic style of handwritten alphabet, “Kufic” refers to the city of Kufa in south of Iraq. Although this style did not necessarily originate in Kufa, the name Kufic is commonly (if mistakenly) applied to the early scripts used to write the Holy Quran.
